Reflections

Clip to ScrapBook
1. I share teaching with a partner teacher and a binder that goes with the class was used to record behavior in for each student.

2. I liked having unassigned seats b/c students are responsible for seating themselves
beside or away from whomever they can't control themselves around & the parents all seemed to understand that in 5th grade you should be capable of that

3. not assigning homework unnecessarily for all the above mentioned reasonings. Next year I think I'm going to send home a sheet of skills we're covering and optional assignments for those parents that want homework and
those that don't won't have to contend with it. However, the minute one approaches about grades I'll make it clear that completing those optional assignments may help. Which it will be made clear in the beginning as well.

4. Assigning a book to be read. Each person had a copy and were responsible for reading it. They were mostly Jean Fritz books for Social Studies.

5. I posted all makeup work on the magnetic chalkboard with magnet men.

6. I made it a rule that only books belong in cubbies. They (the cubbies) were neat and clean all year.

7. I mailed letters to parents and it made a difference for some. The parents appreciated it. I'm going to work this summer on making this easier for me on next year by getting all the supplies as premade as possible.
