What you're describing reminds me of what I saw presented in my Master's Program by Dr. Susan Mandel Glazer to illustrate what kids need to do to comprehend text. I really liked the technique and would like
To comprehend text, attending to task was one of the three prerequisites. The boat demonstration was used by Dr. Glazer to show how we must help students attend to task. In this example, the students blew like the wind and repeated the various parts of the boat. Perhaps contact Dr. Glazer--? Or, contact your local educational store--? Or, google key terms (paper tearing, stories, etc...). I look forward to hearing what others know. LindaR
