Sorry, I don't have a recommended order but your ideas about "zero, doubles, doubles plus 1" are definitely the way to go. I would also recommend working with the "power of ten" -- being able to quickly recognize what 2 numbers equal 10. This is really powerful when they add up columns of numbers in upper grades and work with estimation more.:D
