what works/what does not
By javamomma

Clip to ScrapBook
Worked:
I really liked having a vocabulary bulletine board. Anytime we, as a class, came to a new word we really liked I added it to our "What a word" bulletine board. This was up for a quarter, then started over.
My kids would come up to me and say "hey here it ___ word" and it made new vocabulary personal. I also challenged them to try to use those new words in writing! (note this is not a vocaulary "word wall" this is just new and interesting words we found)

DId not work: I hate my class library, I have sorted into tubs, and it was a constant housekeeping task to keep them straight. Went back to book shelves this year, yuck. I am thinking baskets/tubs, but only about 5 out a week and change them out.
