Reading Night
By RebeccaH

Clip to ScrapBook
For the last 4 years I have run a Lamplighters Night. The children come back to school at 5.45 in their PJ's. We get around 50 to 70. I have one of the older classes read to the children in small groups. They wear their PJ's
as well. I put up coloured lights, beanbags and small table lights. The children rotate from one reader to another. The parents go to another room and have coffee or tea. This year we are also having a play put on by the older children. It goes for one hour involves only a little work but the parents and children love it. It is for 5-8 year olds but because of the event becoming so popular
with the readers I am introducing reading to the younger group who come with their parents. It will probably be just looking at the pictures. Staff also wear their slippers and dressing gowns and because it is winter it will be dark. We go out to dinner when the children go home.:)
