I can't imagine teaching in inner city...so kudos to you.
I would definitely go in with a plan. I had a hard class here. They would always talk and were really disrespectful. I decided that I wouldn't go back there,
but the teacher has highly requested me for a sub and the kids have been asking me when I will be their sub again. I put some strong discipline on them and told them they will not treat a sub this way as I hope they do not treat their own teacher this way.

I ended up calling the office where the principal came down. I wasn't expecting that, but all in all...it came down to the
principal telling me that what she saw was discipline that she hasn't seen in that class in a while.

I got the job at that school this last week.

So, after a long story, go in with no worries of being the mean sub. They will see you are serious. Next time, just call the office. they are there to help you.
