social time
By SusanTeach

Clip to ScrapBook
I always give out awards and report cards, plus a little something from me, so that takes up a good hour on the last day of school. We also only have 60% day so that helps. I read the book "Oh the Places You'll Go" by Dr. Seuss - the kids always love that no matter what grade you teach. I give them all baby wipes and they clean off their desks and inside their cubbies. The "early finishers" clean off bookcases, etc... They love helping. They get to socialize along with it, and I don't mind as long as they TALK and not YELL across the room (one reminder is all it usually takes). I give them a nice outdoor recess to sign yearbooks and socialize more. I have a movie as a back-up plan, but they usually prefer moving around and chatting.
