How to get 6th graders to be quiet By Frank

I had the privilege of subbing for 6 classes of 6th graders
today who just wouldn't be quiet no matter what. The
teacher next door told me that they were an "unusual" group
of 6th graders this year to begin with. On top of that, the
fact that summer vacation starts in 12 days doesn't help
matters much. How the heck do you get these kids to lower
the room volume? I think that I tried just about
everything......
