Know what you went through!

I teach 3rd. About 6 weeks ago, I went through a similar ordeal over a missing 20 dollar bill! I know, the kid had no business with that kind of money at school, but his mom-who lives in another state-had sent it to him in the mail, he was so proud and wanted to show his friends. Anyway, the culprit-whom I suspected all along-sits right beside him and was actually found out by another student doing some detective work on her own! But since I had already said that if the money was returned safe and sound, no punishments would be forthcoming, I kept my word. However, later, a very strong discussion was held in privacy about honesty and the consequences of stealing.
