Geometry idea

Read "Grandfather Tang's Story" by Ann Tompert (a book about tangrams) and then let the students create each animal out of the 7 tangram pieces. The tangrams can be made out of paper if you don't have the plastic ones. Then they could create an additional character. My grade 3's loved this activity.
