First, I'm sorry for your loss! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Secondly, I don't think you said to much. The students didn't seemed phased by the amount of information that you disclosed, so I don't think you have to worry about anyone thinking you said to much. You said what was right for you. In a way, this information may help your students. If you were sad in class or something like that, they will know why.
