"bulletin boards"
By Kristi W.

Clip to ScrapBook
I have the reverse problem (not enough boards). If I had 8, I would put them to good use. First of all, I suggest using the largest one for your calendar/meeting board.
At the first grade level, learning sight words
is very important. How about devoting a bulletin board or two to color or number words?
I also tend to earmark certain boards for a specific subject. For example, one of my boards is devoted to all our science topics. (oceans, spiders, penguins, weather, solar system, etc.)
I am also trying something new this year. I'm going to devote a space in my classroom for a weather
center. Students will keep track of the weather by tallying and using weather words and also recording the temperature.
I find it helpful to have a couple of boards that remain the same the entire year (calendar board, weather board, and boards devoted to sight words could stay up entire year!) Hope this helps!
