Need advice...how do I deal with my assistant
By ECU

Clip to ScrapBook
Hello,

I am having a really hard time with my assistant. She has been "assisting" (I guess that's how you put it), for about 16 years and is really hard to handle as far as her constant gossiping and constant slowness.
I have tried to explain my behavior management to her as well as give her more detailed tasks to help me with. Recently, I have had to go out to recess with her because when she is out there, there is always a problem...someone gets pushed, behavior, etc. The kids don't respect her authority and parents complain about her. I don't want to sound like a horribly negative person...because
I SWEAR I'm not...in fact, this is the first real concern that I've had so far this year. I have only been teaching for a year and a half...maybe she doesn't think I know what I'm talking about? The kids are great for me, so I know it's not my methods that are the problem. I've tried to discuss things with her; it just doesn't seem to really "get through." She really is a wonderful lady but we just have a hard time seeing eye to eye on things. Any advise?
Please help! I am really worried about this!

Thanks in advance!
