it depends...

I think it kind of depends. If your program has math games, that's what I like to have them do. A lot of the games that come with Every Day math adjust themselves to a child's level. I don't have to worry that my high math kids are wasting their time just because they got done early.

One thing I've learned about math pages is that sometimes, it's worth it to just call all your slower workers to a circle on the carpet. We complete the page in a guided group while the others do it independently. This way, everyone gets done at the same time, and I get an extra teaching opportunity for those kiddos who need it. I don't do it everyday so as not to ignore the others and because independent work is important for everyone.
