Testing
By lynn

Clip to ScrapBook
I've noticed that end of grade testing dates differs greatly from state to state. Here in NC we test in mid-may about three weeks before the last day of school. Students who do not "pass" have one week of remediation and
then retest. If they still do not "pass" summer school and an additional test is an option. This is especially true in grades 3, 5, and 8 since students must pass in order to move on to the next grade, supposibly that is, exceptions are made when reasonable.

Not testing until May gives us ample time to prepare students, but a week of remediation is a joke. However if a child
freezes up a week may be all that is necessary to ensure better results the next time. Why do some states test so early? Do any of your grades have a minimum score to make in order to pass to the next grade? Just wondering?

Personally I would like to see a national test so everyone could be on the same page.
