Put your kids in alphabetical order and then number them accordingly. Name and number goes on every paper. Have them hand in all tests in reverse order so when you check htem they are in order and ready to be put in the gradebook. If its a homework/in class assignment, you can quickly put them in number order and easily see who's missing. It's also a timesaver b/c you can put numbers on their things (books, mailboxes, work folders, assignment charts, etc.) and then you can reuse them year after year b/c the nubmers wont change, just the name associated with it!
