Not selfish
By aussiejane

Clip to ScrapBook
You have been working hard with these children and are just probably burnt out. Don't be too hard on yourself. The many lessons you have learned with these kids will prove invaluable when you next have to deal with similar issues.

My principal says that the whole school community "owns" the children of the school. No child is exclusively the problem of any particular teacher, even their own class teacher. I think this is a really useful way of looking at it. You will still be at the school to advise the teachers dealing with these kids - you aren't abandoning them. They also need to learn to deal with a variety of teachers, because that's the reality of school life. Good luck - it's obvious your heart is in the right place.
