Clip to ScrapBook
My fiftth graders love to play battleship. I created a card with blank squares, letters across the top and numbers down the side. The kids place each of their spelling words on one of the squares (some squares will be empty). They then pair up with another student. The kids take turns choosing a square by identifying the grid letters and numbers (ex. C1, or D5). If there is a word on their partner's square, they attempt to spell it and earn one point if correct. They continue to take turns until they have found all words or until time is up.
