We always do a staff collection for the gift instead of buying individual gifts. This allows everyone to give but doesn't cost 15 dollars for each gift. Even with our small staff if everyone gives 2 or 3 dollars we end up with a nice gift. We have also used our flower fund for this. We collect 20 dollars at the beginning of the year and use this for baby gifts and wedding gifts as well as funeral flowers and memorials. If the fund runs out, everyone gives more money. It works for us. Maybe you could suggest this at your school.
