Sounds like things are pretty much the same everywhere.
How is the food handled?
Usually the "hostess" asks us to bring the food too. Most times we go together as a grade group and bring a tray of vegetables or something. Sometimes the party is held at school sometimes ina private home. Same deal -- bring the present, bring the food and don't forget your lawn chair. Oh and somebody usually doesn't "drive at night, or in the country or when it is raining, snowing or sunny" so bring a carload of guests too.
Makes me chuckle --- what does the "hostess" provide? Maybe I should be hostess next time.
