This is how I used the book for writing...

I used it last year with 3rd graders. They wrote descriptive paragraphs about two of the pictures (I see, I hear, etc.) Your class may be a little beyond that, though. But still, you could have them focus on writing very vivid, detailed descriptions of the pictures, so "word choice" would be the trait to emphasize.

I'm a little confused about the term "seed ideas", so maybe this is not what you're looking for...
