My fourth graders will write a long piece before the end of the year. Although they've written 5-paragraph essays all year, this piece I want to be generated from one of the "seed" ideas we're developing in April. This week I'm asking them to base snippets of writing on memories. Next week, I'll probably focus on favorite places or people. The following week I'm showing them the Mysteries of Harris Burdick. How would I classify that seed of an idea since it comes directly from pictures generated from a book. I'd love to hear from you.
