recess/PE
By bamateach

Clip to ScrapBook
It sounds like some of you consider recess to be a structured PE time. Are some of you required to teach PE? My students have 30 minutes of PE daily with a PE teacher. This is my time and I don't hold anyone in from their
specials - ever. We also get 2o minutes of recess each day. THis is monitored by me their teacher. I don;t have structured activiites. THis is their time to run and play. If need be I take it away in different incriments depending on the offense. As anotehr poster stated because it works for the most part. A lot of the time I will have a students run/walk laps rather than sit out. I have
also been known to have them pick up trash rather than sit out. Unless the offense is really bad (disrespect that I cannot control, hitting, etc...) I handle my own discipline and paddeling isn't an option nor would I so the only alternative is time out. What they do during their time out though may vary. Also those that don;t finish work or do homework get to do it during recess.
