I don't listen to music in my classroom. If I were to, it would only be classical and only at times when the students would not be distracted. It doesn't matter what other teachers are doing in their classroom; it is your students you need to be worried about. If they are distracted, it is in their best interest to turn it off. It is your classroom, but I don't think it is appropriate to listen to music after they told you they were distracted. I agree with the poster that said if it is music they don't like, it can be distracting.
