Clip to ScrapBook
Everyone is different, but I think part of having a student teacher is that you have to relinquish some of your connection to your kids. That being said, and since she doesn't want to give up certain things, what I would
do is build some read aloud time into your lessons through poetry or content area picture books. There are excellent ones in math, science, and social studies. That way, you will get the experience, and you too, will be able to bond with the kids through shared reading. I wouldn't worry about the filing of papers. If she is willing to do that, it's more time you have to concentrate on the
more important parts of your teaching. As long as she is letting you pick up a fair amount of the academic load, and you are enjoying working with her and her class in other aspects, I wouldn't worry too much about the things you mentioned.
