centers
By Colleen

Clip to ScrapBook
I wouldn't worry about your centers. I've had them all sorts of ways: with parent volunteers, no one but me, an aide, and even with parent volunteers and an aide. I even tried to give them up because I felt as both of
you did. Even if you feel that your kids are not getting anything more than fun practice at reading related activities remember that your students are at the early childhood level. They make test taking fun! Kids need to be given the opportunity to socialize, get up an move about and make choices during the school day outside of recess. Centers provide this wonderfully. Sometimes my
kids make up new things to do at the centers and as long as it is educational then I see can a value in that. Sometimes they do get crazy so they are restricted from the centers for a period of time. I have learned that it is something my kids really love. If I give them center time they give me a good rest of the day!
