I'm staying. I have too much unfinished business with my kiddos. My main concern was the PSSAs. Our scores have always been at the top of the district. I was concerned with this 3rd grade and if they would be prepared. The teacher that took the sabbatical wasn't concerened in the least. Since she turned in her retirment letter in October she's been doctor hunting until she found someone to write her a medical excuse to take the sabbatical. Her regular doctor said no. (she 's the biggest hypochondriac ever.)
Parents would have been a concern. The 3rd grade would have been very glad to have me. But there's one in my room that would have been royally PO'd.
As far as next year, that third grade is mine (99% sure) because of seniority. No one else in my building wants to move, and the people that are interested in moving have less time that me. Ideally the other third grade teacher will retire too and my 1st grade buddy and I will finally be able to teach together.
When supplies were ordered for next year the teacher wasn't going to order for her replacement. I did hers and mine.
I think finally yesterday as I sat and looked around my room I figured I couldn't do it to this class. I also have a child with autism that comes in my room part of the day. He has made such gigantic leaps this year, the change would have been such a major set back for him.
Thank you for all the input. I was worried that I wouldn't have time to think this through ( I can be impulsive sometimes :o ) and figured you guys would help speed up the thought process.:D Thanks
