Did you try sending the books parcel post? It is cheaper that way. Try packing only the small items in your bags.........like erasers, pack them inside your shoes and fill up small holes in your suitcase with little items. The box you pack it in can add weight too, so maybe you could find a box that is durable, but not so heavy.
