cell phone story
By pattyk

Clip to ScrapBook
This may get lengthy, but please understand. My son was in Iraq, and came home for a 2 week leave...he did not have a cell phone in Iraq, but wanted to have one while home...I loaned him mine. He apparently set the alarm
for 9 am, to make sure he got up in the morning since we were all at school/work and his body was still on Iraq time. After he returned to Iraq, I returned my phone to my purse, not aware that there was an alarm that would go off at 9 am every morning. The next day, of course, the alarm went off. It startled me as the only reason someone would call me was death, theirs, if during the
day. When I realized it was an alarm, I quickly told the class it was a "Matt alarm". I explained that it was 3 pm in Iraq and that every day I would think about my son and say a silent prayer that he would remain safe. Thus the "Matt alarm" rang everyday. I am a 'specials' teacher, so it was a different class everyday. The kids readily accepted the "Matt alarm" and were all happy when I announced that Matt had safely returned to the States. Matt later related to me that he was thankful for my prayers and those of the kids in the class. I never told them THEY had to pray, but I would see a few eyes close, or heads bow when the alarm went off. I know that this a slightly off topic, but wanted to share.
