Clip to ScrapBook
I found it was hard to implement initially, but after a few years the kids are really doing well (mostly catching them up on grammar was the tricky part). I agree that it's set up as "teaching reading for dummies" but I rarely follow that plan. I ignore the writing because I think it's too simplistic and often skip at least one workbook page in favor of hands-on lessons. I love the supplemental materials, but wish they offered more practice pages for trickier skills (one page to teach dictionary skills?) Our grade level has had to create our own supplement book from old reading series pages and the like. I do enjoy the different genres and the real literature selections. Ours also matches all state standards, so filling out instructional validity is easy.
