cursive writing
By muffy

Clip to ScrapBook
Cursive writing came to my mind while I was reading the original post. THis has changed so much in my 34 years of teaching. We use to spend hours on handwriting but now it isn't as important.
The other thing I thought
of was using the encyclopedia. I don't suppose many schools still buy the actual books since most are on a CD now.
I think eventually that telling time will be dropped with all the digital clocks and watches that are everywhere.
I can remember when we were told our country was going metric in 5 years (any other "oldies but goldies" remember that?) and the kids HAD to know
it but then 5 years came and went!!!
It is really hard to say that something shouldn't be taught but I do think the amount of time on certain subjects and skills have decreased with the state standards and all the state testing we have now.
Good luck with your project. Hope you get some ideas here.
