Guided Reading
By Jen

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi,

I've been using the model used in Guided Reading for about 3 years.

Establishing routines will be a challenge at first. Using the pictures in Guided Reading for a task board helped as well as the sheets to keep track of where I had been with students and where I am going.

If you don't already have assessment in place, check out Marie Clay's An Observation Survey. You can get it from Amazon.com as well as books to use for Concept About Print assessment.

What books will you have for guided reading?

Talking with other teachers helped. My school had weekly meetings to discuss how things were going and to pass along good ideas.

Good luck,

Jen
