Clip to ScrapBook
I may be prejudice for I have taught first for well over twenty years and only taught second and a 1/2 combination for three years.
I do think that first is harder! I had a friend who had taught second for about
15-20 years go to first and say it nearly worked her to death but she loves it now! I don't think she would trade back.
Second graders can do a little more, independently, but with first graders it seems you REALLY get to see their growth and see the lightbulbs come on when they realize "I CAN DO THAT! (read , do math or write etc.) Their eyes just glow and their smiles light
up the room.
I also enjoy first grade curriculum ,in our state, more!
Both can be rewarding!
Good luck which ever you choose. We need good teachers in both (and everywhere)!
