bathroom
By Cheryl

Clip to ScrapBook
I hate being interupted to be asked to go to the bathroom. (As I'm sure most teachers do). I have set up a hand signal that has been very effective. It is actually the sign language for toilet. If you know how to make the letter T then just shake your hand a little (or a lot if it's an emergency) The kids can quietly give me the signal and even in the middle of working one on one with someone I can respond - with a brief nod. Usually the kid I'm working with doesn't even realize - which is the goal. Of course there is a lot of practicing in the first week or 2. The gr. 2 and 3 teacher have started using it too. I also use it at home with my daughter when we are in a public situation.
