I completed my master's in reading last year at Applachain State Uniiversity in Boone, NC. One of my professors was Linda Kucan who is very good friends with Isabel Beck. She is known for her work on vocabulary instruction. My professor actually co-wrote a book with her. Her ideas are great, but unfortunately we can't always spend the amount of time on vocabulary that she would suggest. Check out her book mentioned in the above post.
