one year i gave my class the "present" of a movie--i put a little note in an envelope and opened it up and allowed them to watch a movie at a later date...that was before the big push of testing and using every available minute to teach to the test.... but you could give them a "game" afternoon and make all the games content-related. or you could give them 10 extra minutes of recess and some hot cocoa. (since it's a little late to start purchasing books with points, and you did ask for inexpensive gifts) you could also give each of them a pass to sit by a friend for the whole day; they could use it whenever they choose. or a "get out of homework free" card that they could cash in in the future. those are free for you!
