First week
By Cathy-Dee

Clip to ScrapBook
Can't really add much to Helen's list, it's a great one.

I follow many of the same things. Once my kids are into the centers I use that time to do some first observations. Who is playing alone, anyone who is having problems getting along, etc.,

In the second week of school I start doing some of my one-on-one assessments so I get a better feel of where all my kids are.

On the first day of school I have them also draw a picture of their first day to take home. They love to take home things to share with their parents.

I agree that the main emphasis for the first few weeks is classroom routines, rules and just settling into being in school.
