I have gotten little plastic Christmas or winter cups and filled them with candy, small toys, etc, and tied them up with cellophane. The kids usually love anything they receive. If you order from a book club like Scholastic you can order books with bonus points if you have them.
Gloria, I am so sorry you are pressured into not giving a gift because the others don't want to. I'm sure the students appreciate your creative solution to the problem. :s)
