Tutoring
By Krissy

Clip to ScrapBook
I tutored last year and I went to the child's home. The family lived very close to school and I had to pass there on my way home anyway. I charged $30/hour. I live on Long Island, NY and the going rate varies. The starting rate seems to be $25/hr and can go up to $40/hr. It all depends on the grade level and what you are tutoring the child in. I basically did his HW with him and helped him study for tests. Ask colleagues what they charge. About finding children to tutor, ask other teachers in your building. Many parents inquire about tutors through the classroom teachers. You could always try Sylvan Learning Center or the Huntington Learning Center, but it is a huge pay cut from doing private tutoring. Good luck!
