painting over old boards
By Julianne

Clip to ScrapBook
I think it could work to paint over your old boards. I'm a great believer in doing it yourself if you have to. But the better solution would be for your school to purchase and hang magnetic white boards. We have them in
our room, one in front, one in back, with a chalk tray to hold the markers and erasers. I LOVE them. No chalk dust, lots of colors to help kids understand what you are writing, easy to hang a copy of the paper you are working on by just sticking it up with a magnet. In addition we each make a magnetic representation of ourselves and place them at the bottom of the board. When a child
needs to use the restroom he/she places a magnetic animal over his picture and goes out. I know who is out and where they went without having to monitor bathroom visits so closely.

I don't know how much these boards cost. They're probably pretty pricey. That's one thing I hate about teaching, penny pinching! Good luck with your project, whichever way you decide to go.
