    RR strategies/behaviors in the classroom

    As a RR teacher, I am working with our first grade teachers to try to get some of the same language/procedures going. We encourage picture walks, book introductions, ask the children to pay attention to what good readers do. They ask themselves: Does it look right? Does it make sense? Is that the way we talk? Go back and reread, get your mouth ready (first sound or will "pop" right out). Just getting the children (and teachers) using the same vocabulary will be a big help.

    In writing, we give our children a practice page to stretch words out as they write. This is something any teacher can do.
