State Investigation

I was going to have my students do investigations on different states. I have heard that there are addresses that students can write to and ask for information. I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find this addresses. I figured I could kill a couple of birds with one stone and have the students practice friendly letters. If you know of any please let me know. Thank You.
