Gala

My school PTA hosts a gala at the country club each spring. The students make class quilts during art class and then there is a silent auction in which they auction the quilts off. They also sell tickets for the event which are 50-100$ a plate. It's a HUGE event at our school- sorta like the prom but really upscale. We wear tuxes and formal gowns. They have a band and a bar. All proceeds benefit the school. Last year it raised 94,000$ for our school. It may only work if you lived in a wealthy neighborhood in which the parents were very social.
