I start my year with a unit on rhymes and Nursery rhymes.

Somewhere along the road I found some nursery rhyme pages that the kids colour and then cut out parts to paste on the page. I do 6 of them and we eventually put them together as a booklet for the kids to read (actually they memorize more than read at this time of year). But it's a start!

They like colouring and this is something they can do without my help. I usually only need this for the first 30 minutes or so until all the kids have arrived and I have them settled. Then we move on to doing the calendar, weather and other morning things.
