6th grade buddies

I have done buddies every year I've taught. Both classes get so much from it. At the beginning of the year we do a few getting to know you activities - glyphs are fun to do with both too. They also intro the "big" playgound to the 1st graders. Later in the year they teach them the outdoor games (4-square, teather ball, handball,hopscotch, etc) in small groups. We celebrate all the holidays together. This year we're going to schedule the 6th graders to also come in pairs once a week for 15-20 minutes for remediation and challenging activities. What an opportunity and everyone wins.
