Buddies

I LOVE having buddies. We had six grade buddies for the year. We started out by having each buddy get to know each other. They created large paper dolls that they dressed like themselves. The paper dolls were then place on
either side of a large heart that had a poem about friends on it and said what the buddies both liked to do. We would meet once a week after that for 1/2 hour. The buddies would help the first graders with a home school journal and then they would read together. We went on mini-field trips together, sledding, science scavenger hunts and other activities. It was okay for the macho sixth

grade boys to do fun things with their buddies. They really became friends and we saw the results throughout the school and on the playground. Good Luck! Cindy
