I thought I would help but after reading your replies almost all of my answers are there.... you do need supplimentary books, there are some really good ones you can download and print from your computer to make sets| of six (Learningpage.com). My kids also love chalkboards (I had a maintenance man cut some from some discarded chalkboards at school (about 14'x14') and brought a box of mismatched socks from home, the ones where your washer ate one or one had a hole in it, and dropped 1/2 a piece of chalk into each. Kids put them over their hands, hold the chalk in that hand and use the side of their | | hand as an eraser. I call out spelling words and/or math problems and they write (practice) and are allowed to change or correct answers..then we say goodbye (answer) and erase. Then go to another question. When we finish, kid keeps sock on hand, grips chalk with those fingers and then pulls the sock off wrong side out ..voila, chalk stored inside sock for next time!!! Makes passing them out easy.
