Hi Jessica,
All suggestions were great, I'd add leveled books from a variety of good publishers (6 packs for shared/guided groups) plus individual copies of other titles for book boxes. Publishers of these books include
Wright, Rigby, RC Owens, Sundance, Dominie Press, but there are others.
You might also start reading some of the following professional books: Thinking and Learning Together by Fisher (all about her years as a first grade teacher), Perspectives on Shared Reading (same author), Guided Reading by Fountas and Pinnell, Word Matters (same authors), Interactive Writing by McCarrier and
Pinnell. One of my favorite math books is Living and Learning Mathematics by Whittin, O'Keefe, & Mills. It's a little older than the others mentioned, but well worth the read, for an integrative picture of learning at the younger grades...Good luck! ;-D Debbie
