Dictionaries
By Joanne Campbell

Clip to ScrapBook
I made up a list of 100 common words and each day as we count the first 100 days of school, we do a new word each day. I teach French Immersion but it would work in any language setting. The first day of school, they letter each page of a notebook with the letters of the alphabet and each day, they add our word of the day to the dictionary. I am amazed how quickly they learn where the letters are. After a few weeks, I don't have to help them find the letters. I try to do an activity with the new word as well for vocabulary building. By Feb. they have quite a list of words they can use when they don't know how to spell a word they can use their dictionary.
