directions

Clip to ScrapBook
One fun activity I've used for direction following is a treasure hunt. I wrote up simple clues - Look under David's desk, Walk down the hall by the office and look at the big bulletin board, etc. After placing all the clues
I left the first one on the classroom floor while the kids were at recess. When someone picked it up I had them read it. As we moved through the hunt the students took turns reading the clues, then we all followed them. At the end of the hunt there was an appropriate treasure. (For us it was gold coin candy.)

This activity could be done with several groups working on different

"hunts". You could also keep all the clues in your classroom, though we enjoyed the opportunity to sneak around the school finding clues. One of our clues even required us to ask another teacher (set up in advance, of course) where to look next.
